What if… I go to the wrong assembly area?

by | 20 Aug 2024

In some organisations, there may be more than one pre-determined evacuation assembly area. So, what do you do if you go to the wrong assembly area during an evacuation?

🟠 The first thing to remember is not to panic

🟠 If no one is at the assembly area, call someone to confirm where they are and advise them where you are located

🟠 Follow instructions from the Warden or Chief Warden on where to relocate (if anywhere)

🟠 If safe to do so and instructed by the Warden or Chief Warden, relocate using a safe route outside of the property boundary to the correct assembly area

To prevent this situation from occurring:

🟠 Implement regular evacuation training and drills to ensure all persons know where the assembly areas are located

🟠 Ensure evacuation diagrams are placed along the paths of egress, identifying the correct assembly area(s) to evacuate to
